Filtering Vegetable Oil

The materials you need for filtering vegetable oil are a container, a spoon, cheese cloth, and a strainer with hooks. First you put the cheese cloth in the strainer, so when you pour the oil the cheese cloth will seperate the vegetable oil from the small particles. Next you hook the strainer to a container. If you do not have a strainer with hooks, you can get someone to hold the strainer for you while you are pouring the oil. When you pour the oil through the strainer, make sure you do not pour the oil too fast or the small particles of food may cause the strainer to overflow. Finally as you filter the vegetable oil you may need to use a spoon the remove the small particles in the strainer. So that is how you filter vegetable oil in a simple way.

  1. This is a good way to take some of the particles out, but it will still leave the oil not clean. You also need to separate other substances from the waste vegetable oil such as water. Maybe there should be heating of the vegetable to remove the other substances from it. Check multiple sites to find the best cleaning method. You can check sites like ehow to find the steps.

  2. Good post Julie! I do however have a question about it. How do you heat the oil? Do you use a hot plate, or an oven, or a microwave. I did however get a good overview of how to purify the oil.

  3. This is good but there are still better things than this.
